What is the polar alignment scope? The polar alignment scope is a small telescope that is installed parallel to the R.A. axis of an equatorial mount such that it matches the R.A. axis to be parallel in the direction of the diurnal motion of stars. To locate the north celestial pole, simply align the positions on the reticle in the polar alignment scope with the 3 designated stars.
